The repair boxes

Back in April I said the next weekend would go to the boxes marked "repair." It took a little longer than a weekend. Five months, give or take, which is about the usual ratio around here.

Two of the four boxes turned out to need nothing more than a screwdriver and some patience: a desk lamp with a loose switch, and a mantel clock that only wanted its pendulum hung back on the right hook. The third box is mostly picture frames again, which I am choosing to treat as a separate problem.

The fourth box holds a small reel-to-reel recorder that powers on, hums, and does nothing else. I have ordered a belt that may or may not be the right size. If it is, there will probably be a post about what is on the tapes.
